A Midwife in charge at the Koforidua Clinic, Hannah Gyimah, has called for the training of men on proper breast massage techniques to help in the early detection of breast cancer.
According to her, many men handle women’s breasts only for sexual pleasure, without paying attention to possible signs of health problems.
She believes that if men are trained, they could play a crucial role in detecting early symptoms of breast cancer in their partners.

Madam Gyimah made the remarks during a Breast Cancer Screening Program organized by the Assembly Member for Old Estate East, Rebecca Oforiwaa Darko, on Wednesday.
As part of the program, the Assembly Member also renewed National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards for participants to ensure continuous access to healthcare.
Mrs. Oforiwaa Darko urged women not to feel shy about their breasts but to make regular examination a habit for early detection and treatment.
She also encouraged men to learn breast massage techniques to support their partners in breast health awareness.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for New Juaben South, Ransford Owusu Boakye, commended the Assembly Member for the initiative, noting that breast cancer is real and has claimed the life of a close relative of his.
Some participants expressed appreciation to the Assembly Member for organizing the screening exercise, describing it as timely and beneficial to the community.
