Officials of Media Foundation for West Africa are in Sierra Leone engaging with the government and media stakeholders on how to consolidate the gains chalked in freedom of expression by the country in recent years and further improve the media environment.
Led by members of our board, the MFWA team paid a courtesy call on the Vice President of Sierra Leone, H.E Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh.
The meeting discussed an array of issues including strengthening efforts aimed at improving media development and press freedom in the country and extending such interventions to the regional level.
The MFWA commended the government of Sierra Leone for repealing the country’s age-old criminal libel law.
These series of engagements in Sierra Leone are being done through the support of the National Endowment for Democracy.
