Micheal S.D Kodua a former District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and a 2012 parliamentary candidate for the NDC has assured to decisively deal with illegal sand winning menace and rejuvenate all degraded lands in the Ayensuano District if nominated as District Chief Executive.
Ayensuano District is plagued with illegal sand winning menace for decades leading to degradation of farmlands and multiple deadly clashes between farmers and armed land guards protecting the sand winners.
The latest deadly clash occurred January 16 , 2025 at Kraboa when land guards armed with weapons attacked farmers who blocked road to protest against destruction of their farmlands. Two persons reportedly died with multiple gunshots injuries.
Speaking to the media after submitting his nomination form and application for the position of the District Chief Executive ( DCE) , Micheal S. D Kodua underscored the security implications of the sand winning activities in the area , recognizes the devastating effect on food security and disruption of livelihoods of residents, promised to introduce technology through private partnership to mine abundant rock deposits in the district convert into crushed stone sand as alternative to the traditional sand .
He also assured to shift focus of agriculture activities in the area to commercial farming where the assembly will plough lands for farmers and provide road access to aide transportation of their goods.
Some Assembly members and supporters expressed confidence in Michael SD Kodua as a man for the job of DCE in Ayensuano Region.
