Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the minister candidate for lands and natural resources, has strongly warned against illicit mining and threatened to take harsh measures against anyone who break the law.
Regardless of political inclinations, he stated in his address on Monday, January 27, that the battle against the threat will be brutal.
Mr. Buah went on to emphasize that although the government is willing to assist those who want to mine legally, illicit activity will not be accepted.
“We will provide a clear pathway for those who want to mine legally with government support, but we will ruthlessly deal with anybody who decides to operate outside the law. Illegal mining will not be tolerated. It doesn’t matter your political party,” he warned.
Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah emphasized that he is not interested in political politics, but rather in addressing the urgent issues facing the mining industry.
He gave Ghanaians his word that the new government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, is dedicated to protecting the environment and managing resources responsibly.
