The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has welcomed the restoration of peace in the Sunyani Traditional Area, describing it as a significant step toward renewed development and investment in the municipality.
Speaking during a courtesy call by the Sunyani Traditional Council at the Ministry on Thursday, 5th March 2026, the Minister emphasized that peace and unity are essential for effective governance and local development.
Hon. Ibrahim explained that the Ministry facilitated a resolution to the long-standing chieftaincy dispute through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms that incorporated both traditional and administrative approaches.
The Minister commended the leadership of the traditional area for prioritizing peace and reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting development initiatives in Sunyani.
The Paramount Chief of Sunyani, Odeefuor Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, expressed appreciation to John Dramani Mahama, the Minister, and the Ministry for their role in resolving the impasse and restoring harmony within the traditional area.
