The President’s nominee for finance ministry, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has outlined several measures and policies to be implemented to improve Ghana’s economy when approved by Parliament as finance minister.
Dr Forson said there is the need to reduce excessive borrowing, reduce interest rate, stabilize inflation and create jobs then finally cut waste in government expenditure.
Also, the nominee further added that, Ghana revenue could be increased not necessarily by increasing and introducing new taxes but rather cut waste in government expenditure so as not to burden Ghanaians with nuisance taxes.
Dr Cassiel Ato Forson finally assured the committee and Ghanaians in general that, the NDC government led by President John Dramani Mahama would surely cancel betting tax and E-Levy in their first budget for the year 2025.
He made all these known when he appeared before the appointment committee of Parliament for vetting.
