As part of efforts to further deepen relations with the Diplomatic Community, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, organised the second edition of a sports and cultural event titled “A Day with the Diplomatic Community” on Saturday, 7th September, 2024 at the Ghana Armed Forces Sports Complex at Burma Camp in Accra.
The event was held under the theme “Strengthening Relationships, Creating Lasting Memories’’.
In her address, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey commended the Diplomatic Community for taking time off their busy schedules to participate in the event and indicated that the purpose of the annual event was to provide an opportunity for the Diplomatic Community and the Ministry to interact and deepen existing bonds of friendship through sports.
On his part, the Chief Director for the Ministry, Amb. Ramses Cleland indicated that the second edition of the event was to build on the success of the maiden event which was held in 2023.
He added that sporting activities promote networking, both formal and informal, strengthen relations, foster teamwork and create lasting memories.
“These memories, such as shared smiles, exchange of kind words and cherished photos would follow us on our journey through life, long after the final whistle has been blown”, he added.
Amb. Cleland further commended participants for their enthusiastic and active participation in the event and was hopeful that it would serve as a symbol of mutual dedication to global peace, harmony and lasting partnerships.
