The minority caucus in parliament has hinted at starting processes to force an independent probe into Prof Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng’s 37-page galamsey report.
“This house has been urged by a vast majority of our citizens to institute a bi-partisan probe into this serious matter,” minority leader Cassiel Ato Forson told journalists Tuesday, 2 May 2023.
He said: “We, the minority, support this call and shall take steps, accordingly, to trigger the necessary processes for an independent probe into this matter.”
“So, in the coming days, don’t be surprised if you hear the NDC minority starting a process to constitute an independent probe into Prof Frimpong-Boateng’s report,” Dr Forson said.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor, has told journalists: “It will be very unfair to Professor Frimpong-Boateng, who is somehow my predecessor in the management of illegal small-scale mining if I am now here passing judgment on the work he did. I think that will be so undignified and I will not do that.”
