The 2019 Face of National Festival of Art and Culture (NAFAC) Adwoa Ahenewaa Nti also Ambassador for Arts and Tourism commenced a nationwide public education exercise on Coronavirus in collaboration with Center for National Culture.
Her first place of visit is Koforidua the Eastern Regional Capital where she visited the Juaben Serwaa market to sensitize market women on the need to observe the preventive etiquette. She also shared large quantities of nose masks and hand sanitizer to market women and taxi drivers in town.
Ghana has recorded 23,835 confirmed Covid-19 cases with 19,212 recoveries and discharge and 135 deaths as of Saturday 11, 2020.
Out of the total confirmed cases, Eastern Region has recorded 911 in 29 out of 33 Districts and Municipalities as Ten (10) have lost their lives.
However, residents are not adhering to the preventive protocols in the region.
Market women and customers at the main market are the worst offenders.
Speaking to the media, the 2019 face of National Festival of Art and Culture (NAFAC) Adwoa Ahenewaa Nti expressed worry that despite the scourge of Covid-19 many people are not observing the preventive protocols a phenomenon underpinning her nationwide public education tour on Covid-19.
She said Covid-19 is having a rippling effect on all sectors of the economy including the entertainment industry which includes pageant therefore it is imperative for all hands to be on deck to complement government’s effort to flatten the curve.
