The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Dan Kwaku Botwe together with the Ministry of Information will hold a joint press briefing on Sunday, September 19, 2021, to announce the President’s nomination to the various positions of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives(MMDCE’s).
The announcement of the nomination has not been forthcoming nine months into the reelection of President Akufo Addo. This has largely been blamed on misunderstandings that have characterized the nomination processes within the ruling New Patriotic Party.
The Director of Communication at the Presidency Eugene Arhin announced last week that the nomination list has been finalized by the President and sent to the Local Government Ministry for the announcement.
This has created anxiety and heightened tension as various lists alleged to be the finalized lists keep surfacing on social media.
Gabby Okyere Darko posted today Saturday that, “Tomorrow all the speculations will be over, including fake lists and recommendations. Sunday, the Local Government Minister, alongside the Information Minister, shall address a press conference and put the official list of MCEs and DCEs out.
The only list which matters! The same list will be put on the Info Ministry website afterward so you can check it for yourself. Until then, we are advised to ignore all lists and all publications for just one day p3! “
“Finally, this is not a do-or-die affair. The President appoints and he does so not to deliberately disappoint anyone but to get his work done. It is that simple. Let’s live with it and make progress “.
