The team from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture led by the minister has brought the curtains down on their working visit to the Northern belt in the Savannah Region.
As explained earlier, these visits allow the ministry to assess and evaluate government policies in the region and offer suggestions if the need arises.
The team visited the Kakulase Maize Farm, where the farmer, Saaka Adams has about 500 acres.
Also, he has quite a several Out Growers who will turn into In Growers soon.
Again, the team visited Boresa Poultry Farms which is a Saa project work on the Yipala-Gboroto Road, Damango where the livestock farmer has about 2000 broilers and 1000 layers.
The Savannah Zone Agricultural Productivity Improvement Project (SAPIP) supported him with the broilers and he is a beneficiary of the Savannah Investment Project (SIP).
The droppings of the poultry are used as compost for other crop farmers and also do maize farming to support the poultry.
The day ended with a Staff durbar which allows us to interact with various stakeholders in the sector.
The interactions were necessary as it provides firsthand, issues, and challenges confronting the sector. It helps in planning and policy decisions for the growth of agriculture in Ghana.
