Accra, Ghana – January 15, 2025
His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, has appointed Mohammed Abdul-Salam as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Lottery Authority (NLA). The appointment, effective January 15, 2025, is in line with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 45(1) of the National Lotto Act, 2006 (Act 722).
The decision follows the constitutionally required advice of the Board of the Authority, provided in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
Abdul-Salam will serve in an acting capacity pending further formalities.
The appointment letter, signed by Callistus Mahama, Ph.D., Secretary to the President, expressed the President’s confidence in Abdul-Salam’s ability to steer the affairs of the NLA.
Key stakeholders, including the Vice President, the Chief of Staff, the Minister of Finance, the Board Chairman of the NLA, and the Chairperson of the Public Services Commission, were notified of the appointment.
Mohammed Abdul-Salam hails from Tamale and is expected to bring renewed energy and vision to the operations of the National Lottery Authority.
