The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has been slapped with a total of $415,000 fine by the Confederation of African Football for misconduct during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
The sanctions stem from the unfortunate incident that occurred during the final at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, where Senegal walked-off the pitch for 17 minutes in protest against a penalty awarded to Morocco.
After intervention from Sadio Mane, the Taranga Lions returned to resume the match and went ahead to secure the title with a narrow victory after extra-time.
Midfielder Pape Gueye scored the decisive goal after Brahim Diaz missed the penalty that sparked the protest.
After a thorough review, the CAF Disciplinary body has imposed several fines on the Moroccan FA. The federation was fined $200,000 for the inappropriate behaviour of stadium ball boys, $100,000 for misconduct by players and technical staff who entered the VAR review area and interfered with the referee, and $15,000 for the use of lasers by supporters during the match. An additional $100,000 was imposed in relation to player misconduct, bringing the total fine to $415,000.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation is expected to appeal the decision in the coming days.
