“If I had the means to buy you the entire world and its inhabitants, it would still fall short of what you deserve” – A Tribute to Mama Esther by Nana Gyasi
On this special occasion of Mother’s Day, I am compelled to express my heartfelt gratitude and admiration for an extraordinary woman—my mother, Mama Esther. As I reflect on the profound impact she has had on my life, I realize that no amount of applause or material gifts could ever encapsulate what she truly deserves.
If I had the means to buy you the entire world and its inhabitants, it would still fall short of what you deserve. If I could extend your life by an additional hundred years, it would merely scratch the surface of my appreciation. Even if I could bring you back from beyond, it would still be nothing compared to the endless love and sacrifice you have shown me.

Mama Esther, your friends and family affectionately call you Ohemaa Esther, a name that symbolizes your royal essence and embodies the qualities of true womanhood. To me, you are simply ‘mom,’ ‘mummy,’ and ‘Mama Esther’—names that reflect your unwavering commitment to motherhood. You exemplify everything a good mother should be.
Words alone fail to convey the depth of my gratitude for your genuine love, kindness, and infectious sense of humor. While the world celebrates mothers today, I choose to honor you with a special title: World Mama Esther Day. You are indeed one in a million.
There is no one who can be compared to you; you are my angel and a true blessing from God. On this day of remembrance, my prayer is that the Almighty replenishes you in all your endeavors and fulfills all your heart’s desires. May He shield you from harm and humble those who wish you ill.

Once again, I express my deepest gratitude for having such a remarkable person as my mother. Thank you for embracing my flaws and loving me unconditionally.
With all my love,
Nana Gyasi
