The Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw Constituency Eric Kwakye Darfour has donated hand hygiene products, washing kits and cash totaling Ghc70,000 for the fight against Coronavirus pandemic in the constituency.
The items donated include 20 cartons of Antiseptic Soap,1000 pieces of 250ml Hand Sanitizer, 2000 pieces of 200ml Hand Sanitizer,20 gallons of 3000ml Hand Sanitizer,20 sets of a Complete Veronica Buckets,120 sets of a Complete Veronica Buckets, and 500 bundles of Paper Napkin.
These items were distributed to institutions such as Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and Health Facilities in the constituency.
Also Market centers, Lorry Stations, stores among other public centers benefited.
Additionally, the Law Maker presented GH₵ 10,000 Cash to the Municipal Health Directorate to procure Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to enable them to help the government contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
Kwakye Darfour who doubles as the Eastern Regional Minister urged his constituents to adhere to the preventive mechanisms to ensure that nobody is infected with the Virus in the constituency.
As of 7th April 2020, 11:30pm a total of 313 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded with six (6) deaths.
The regional distribution of the cases are as follows: Greater Accra Region has most cases (274) followed by the Ashanti Region (25), Northern Region (10), Upper West Region (1), Eastern Region (1), Upper East Region (1) and Central Region (1).

President of Ghana Akufo-Addo on March 27, 2020, announced a partial lockdown of the Nation’s Capital-Accra and Parts of Greater Kumasi for two weeks as an enhanced measure to prevent increasing community spread having closed down all Borders -Land, sea and Air spaces. The government also imposed mandatory 14 days quarantine for returnees in the country. Additionally, the President has established a COVID-19 Fund to help mobilize resources to fight the pandemic.
President on April 5, 2020, announced other social interventions including free water provision for all Ghanaians for three months, Insurance packages and tax exemptions on salaries for all healthcare Additionally,50% of basic salaries as top-up allowance for frontline workers among others.
