New Juaben South MCE, Ransford Owusu Boakye has stated emphatically that he has no qualms with the Member of Parliament of his constituency, Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi.
According to him, he and the MP are on good terms but doesn’t seem to know why the followers of the later thinks otherwise and make him (Ransford Owusu Boakye) look bad in the eyes of people in the municipality.
He made this assertion during an interview on Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney, emphasizing that, he is there to assist the President and he knows the president won’t allow him to use the MP’s Common common fund for something else.
Touching on the issuance of the MP’s common fund, Hon. Boakye made it clear that he’s there to represent the President of the country and there’s no way he will be a hindrance to the development of the municipality and for that matter will always sign and support good initiatives the MP brings to his desk.
“I’m just there to assist the president and we know how the president is, he won’t allow you to use someone’s common fund for something else and his is 5 percent, so there’s no way I will deliberately refuse the signing for him to get his common fund”. He stated.
“I have plans of calling my brother to join me when commissioning my projects and other works that the Common fund has done within 5 to 6 months, the same way I expect him to call me when he is also doing something”, he stated.
His comments comments come in the wake of accusations that the MCE has refused to sign for the release of the fund for the MP in question to use for developmental problems.
However, the MCE was quick to confirm that he just signed for release of funds to the MP after receiving a proposal from the latter to help him pay school fees of some constituents.
“I even approved a proposal the MP brought late last year to buy rice, oil, meat and other food items for party people, so how can I refuse to do same when the intention is for the development of the people” Hon Owusu Boakye queried.
