As part of activities to mark the season, MTN Ghana Foundation, supported by employee volunteers of MTN Ghana have distributed 250 hampers to babies born on Christmas day across the country.
The hampers comprising baby essentials such as blankets, diapers, towels, shawls, bibs, toiletries, clothes and other baby products were distributed to mothers in 14 hospitals in 10 regions of Ghana. The hospitals are Tema General Hospital, Ashiaman Polyclinic, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Effia-Nkwanta Government Hospital, Essikado Community Hospital, Sunyani Regional Hospital, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Yendi Government Hospital, Bolga Regional Hospital, Wa Regional Hospital, Ho Government Hospital, Koforidua Government Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Agogo Government Hospital.
Janet Quarshie, Senior Manager, MTN Branch Network Services who led a team of MTN volunteers in the Greater Accra region said, the donation seeks to put smiles on the faces of customers. “This is in line with the Foundation’s commitment to brighten lives through impactful Corporate Social Investments.
“It is Christmas and we are spreading the love and joy of the season by offering gifts to these unique babies. Christmas, as we all know is a season for showing love. We did this to put smiles on the faces of these mothers to make them feel loved and share in the joy of the season.
The mothers of the babies who were overjoyed commended MTN Ghana Foundation for the exceptional show of love. MTN staff volunteers in the Western region were supported by Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhene of Esikado Traditional Council. At the Takoradi Government Hospital, the Deputy Director of Nursing, Ms. Justina Amo-Yartey welcomed the MTN officials and expressed her gratitude to MTN Ghana Foundation for the kind gesture.
Since 2011, the MTN Ghana Foundation has donated over 1000 hampers to babies born between 24th and 26th December. The donation is one of the many ways the MTN Ghana Foundation has helped to brighten the lives of members of the Ghanaian community. The presentations of the hampers were given to celebrate the occasion of the birth of Jesus Christ.
