MTN Ghana Foundation has re-aligned its focus areas to digitization support to improve economic empowerment, quality healthcare, and education and create opportunities in the digital ecosystem.
The foundation is seeking to support SMEs, ICT hubs and business and virtual incubators, diagnostic equipment, technological support, digital training, e-health, Coding, robotics, ICT centers, media partnerships, one-off support, and national priority.
The Chief Executive Officer of MTN mobile Financial Limited Eli Hini said this during a stakeholder’s engagement held in Koforidua.
“In terms of re-aligning our foundation focus, economy empowerment health and education will be the main focus and we will be looking at other projects which we called opportunistic which will be on events that border on national priority, so in SME support we will be looking at diagnostic equipment, digital training, e-health, artificial intelligence because it is becoming a new trend in trying to build knowledge and also ensure that we improve the digital space, we talking about robotics as well and building of ICT centers”.
“Just to indicate that over Ghc 20 million has been approved to invest in 2022 and part of it will go into our 25th-anniversary projects and other ongoing projects such a two building storey maternity blocks at Keta municipality and we will put up a robotic center at Mamfe Girls SHS in the Eastern Region and also we have reloaded our bright scholarship” he explained.
Mr. Eli Hini said through MTN Foundation, the company has so far invested ghc64 million cedis 157 sustainable projects all completed as part of its corporate social responsibility.
He said MTN remains committed to contributing the national development stating that the company has paid ghc3.1 billion to national revenue.
“Our contribution from the last year 2021, 3.1 billion to the national revenue and that is broken down into those various contributions overall taxes, the national physical stabilization levy, communication tax and we will continue to do that and support the economy as much as possible and remain a good cooperate citizen and even go beyond that to support the social interventions,” he said
