MTN Ghana has hosted its Fintech Stakeholder Dinner and Awards at the Okodas Events Center in Koforidua as part of a strategic effort to strengthen partnerships within the digital financial services industry and reinforce the shared vision driving the sector forward.
The event brought together key industry players to foster collaboration, encourage innovation, and create opportunities that will further advance Ghana’s digital financial ecosystem.
Speaking at the event, Ransford Gyan, Area Sales Manager for the South-East Business at MTN Ghana, recognized outstanding individuals and organizations whose consistency, innovation, integrity, and leadership continue to shape the fintech landscape.
“Our progress as an industry has been made possible through the unwavering support of our customers and the collective efforts of regulators, financial service providers, fintech innovators, aggregators, agents, merchants, and partners who work tirelessly to expand access, deepen financial inclusion, and improve the lives of millions of Ghanaians,” he said. “As we reflect on the year, we celebrate transformative achievements made possible because we worked together.”
Mr. Gyan added that the dinner, marked by meaningful conversations and mutual appreciation, was intended to further strengthen relationships and pave the way for a more collaborative and impactful future.
The Acting Commercial Manager for the Southeast, Mr. Kwasi Osei Hyeaman, described the stakeholder dinner and awards as a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation. He commended MTN Ghana’s partners, including financial institutions, technology providers, and fintech companies, for enabling seamless transactions, providing liquidity support, ensuring platform security, and delivering innovative solutions that address real customer needs across the ecosystem.
Mr. Osei Hyeaman paid special tribute to MoMo agents and merchants nationwide, describing them as the lifeline of the digital finance ecosystem for connecting millions of Ghanaians to financial services every day. He also expressed deep appreciation to the Bank of Ghana for its visionary leadership and enabling regulatory frameworks, which have allowed MTN Ghana to innovate, grow, and transform financial services across the country.
Reflecting on the journey of mobile money, Mr. Osei Hyeaman noted that what began 16 years ago as a simple service for money transfers and airtime purchases has evolved into a lifestyle enabler. “Our mission has expanded to driving financial inclusion, enhancing financial literacy, and supporting an economy where digital payments, savings, credit, and investments empower everyone,” he said.
He further expressed optimism about the future of the fintech industry, highlighting emerging policy initiatives such as Digital Lending, Virtual Assets, Open Banking, and the potential introduction of the e-cedi. Mr. Osei Hyeaman also welcomed the government’s commitment to Ghana’s digital future through initiatives such as the proposed Fintech Growth Fund to support startups and the deployment of an AI-powered Trade Data Analytics system to modernize revenue collection.
According to him, these initiatives will enhance innovation, improve transparency in revenue mobilization, and create a healthier ecosystem for all stakeholders. “We in MobileMoney stand ready to collaborate closely with all partners to advance these digital solutions for the benefit of Ghana,” he emphasized.
At the awards ceremony, Adega Hudosedi Kwzme from Nsawam Municipal in the Eastern Region, Psalm 23 Ventures from Ho Municipal in the Volta Region, and Engage Initiative from the Jasikan District in the Oti Region each received GH₵20,000 as regional winners. Key partners were also presented with surprise awards in recognition of their contributions.
The event was held under the theme: “Celebrating the Power of Partnership and Service Excellence,” reflecting MTN Ghana’s journey and its commitment to a shared, digitally empowered future.
