MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its dedication to promoting Ghanaian culture and fostering community growth by generously supporting the 2025 Akuapem Odwira Festival in the Eastern Region.
The donation was presented by Mr. Ransford Gyan, Area Sales Manager for MTN’s Southeast Business District, during a ceremony on October 23, 2025. Mr. Gyan delivered heartfelt greetings from MTN Ghana’s CEO, Mr. Stephen Blewett, as well as the entire MTN team to His Royal Majesty Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, Okuapehene, the Akuapem Traditional Council, and the people of Okuapeman.
In his remarks, Mr. Gyan expressed MTN Ghana’s deep admiration for the legacy of peace, unity, and cultural pride that the Odwira Festival represents. He underscored the festival’s significance as a key event in Ghana’s cultural calendar, symbolizing purification, thanksgiving, and community cohesion. It serves as an important occasion to reflect on Ghana’s identity as a unified, resilient nation, proud of its rich heritage.
With the 200th anniversary of the Akuapem Odwira Festival fast approaching in 2026, Mr. Gyan noted MTN Ghana’s excitement to collaborate with the Okuapeman community to lay the groundwork for a celebration that honors both tradition and progress.
“The Odwira Festival is more than just a celebration; it is a living testament to Ghana’s vibrant African heritage,” he said. “It unites people, preserves our traditions, and inspires future generations. At MTN, our success is tied to the growth and prosperity of the communities we serve.”
In addition to the cash donation, Mr. Gyan revealed that MTN Ghana would establish experiential centers and sales stands at key locations throughout the festival, offering easy access to MTN products and services. Dedicated customer service teams would also be on hand to assist festival-goers.
He reaffirmed MTN’s ongoing commitment to investing in initiatives that drive cultural preservation, education, health, economic empowerment, youth development, and digital inclusion across Ghana.
The total donation from MTN Ghana included GH₵30,000 in cash, GH₵2,000 worth of airtime, and a drinks hamper.
This contribution is part of MTN Ghana’s continuous efforts to support the social and economic development of the nation while helping to maintain its cultural identity.
