Incumbent Member of Parliament on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Muntaka Mubarak has retained the Asawase seat in the Ashanti Region.
Muntaka Mubarak won 13 of the polling centers in the constituency as his arch contender from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Alidu Seidu won the remaining two (2) polling centers.
After being declared as the winner, Mr. Mubarak asserted that he is a bit surprised with the number of votes he accumulated.
“It’s the largest vote I have ever had in any election I have ever contested,” he said to press shortly after his victory was announced.
Mr. Muntaka was courted further controversy when polls opened after he was caught on camera using his six-year-old daughter’s thumbprint on his ballot paper.
