The callous murder of a Policewoman at Damongo has become the first murder case within the Ghana Police Service under the leadership of Ghana’s new Inspector General of Police, George Akufo Dampare.
The Public is closely monitoring the speed and skill at which the acting IGP will deploy to arrest the perpetrator.
The way and manner in which this case will be handled will either increase public confidence or creates more skeptics.
The Acting IGP took office from his predecessor James Oppong Buanuh on August 1, 2021. Many Police officers were killed under bizarre circumstances under the watch of the immediate past IGP raising serious concerns about the safety of Police personnel
However, barely 48 hours later after Dampare assumed office, a Policewoman has allegedly been stabbed to death by her boyfriend at Damango in the Savannah Region.
The Police constable, identified as Asiedu Sandra, was found dead at her residence at Damongo on 2nd August 2021.
She is believed to have been stabbed multiple times by her assailant.
She was found in a pool of blood with wounds believed to be knife stabs.
The body has since been deposited at West Gonja District Hospital, pending investigation.
Police have launched a manhunt for her boyfriend who is currently on the run.
“Her boyfriend is highly suspected and the Police are on a manhunt for him” The police have said.
The Police Administration has also started processes to inform the family of the deceased and assures that it will update the public on the matter.
