Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor has stated that her victory was chalked up to hard work and running an excellent campaign.
The first entrant to Ghana’s parliament said she did a solid grassroots campaign, including house-to-house activities, for eight solid months.
she disclosed that her campaign message was solid and the constituents trusted her to deliver, and that was why they voted for her.
She told the media that ‘’in everything you do, you must have a plan. The NDC in Kasoa had an excellent plan and a strategy. You can also have a strategy, but the opponent you are contesting could influence how you execute your plan. So, although we had a strategy, there were many inputs during the campaign that I think contributed to our victory.
Aside from that, I was focused and giving out a good message. We had a very good campaign message. I tried to reach out to the grassroots. I did more led work. I did door-to-door for strictly eight good months. So it is all about our hard work and the efforts of all the executives in the constituency. They did a lot for me. They were focused, and determined and that is what gave us victory. The victory is not just for me but for the constituency.’’
Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor emerged victorious in the Awutu Senya East parliamentary race in the 2024 parliamentary election, unseating the incumbent MP, Mavis Hawa Koomson, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
