Ghanaian singer Mzbel, whose real name is Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, has been disappointed that she has not received an offer of employment despite her contributions to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Her worries follow the appointment of a number of creatives under the new administration.
Mzbel claims that in order to keep her peace of mind and escape public attention, she is likely to turn down any appointment.
“The truth is that I will turn down an offer of appointment should the President even call because I want peace of mind. I don’t want anyone to equate my success to politics because I work very hard,” she stated.
“For instance, should I travel for even my own show, they will say ‘she is traveling with taxpayers’ money. Politics has made her this and that,” she added.
However, she admitted she would have felt appreciated if the appointing authorities had at least reached out to her, considering the sacrifices she made for the party.
“I’m disappointed that some of my colleagues have been given appointments while I’ve not even been called. Considering the fact that I’ve really been bullied, insulted, and even threatened because of NDC, it’s disappointing that with the party in power now, Mzbel has been forgotten and no one has bothered to even get in touch with me,” she lamented.
“Anyway, I don’t even know how these appointments are being done. Maybe people submit their resumes or make calls to some influential people to lobby for them, but at least a call to make an offer wouldn’t be bad,” she added.
