The Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Shani Alhassan Shaibu has commissioned the operation of Ayalolo Transport in the Tamale Metropolis and its environs.
The introduction of the Ayalolo buses in the country formed part of the government’s effort to improve inter-city transportation.
The extension of the buses to the Northern Region is therefore a response to the Regional Minister’s request for buses to ease the transportation bottlenecks in the region.
According to Hon. Shaibu, five of the buses are set to start a free ride for three days with effect from Wednesday, October 12 to Friday, October 14, 2022, and subsequently engage in commercial services.
He stated that the pick-up points will be at the taxi rank to the Tamale Technical University campus, Point 7 to Vittin and Anbariya Senior High School, PK Gombila Pharmacy to Savelugu, Quality First Shopping Center to the UDS Tamale campus, and Aboabo Commercial Bank branch to Nyankpala.
“The intervention will bring sanity to our major roads and enhance economic activities in the region,” he said.
The Northern Regional Minister, on behalf of the chiefs and people of the region, expressed gratitude to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for listening to the plea of the north on roads and transport.
He again assured the people of the region of securing more buses for the region.
