Hip-hop artiste Solomon Adu Antwi, known in the entertainment industry as Yaa Pono has said that the names an artiste uses don’t affect the brand since it’s not the meaning of the names that people focus on but rather the art.
In an interview with Amansan Krakye on Radio Central, Yaa Pono was asked what impact does the name play in their music career as a showbiz personality.
“Oh no my name hasn’t affected me in any way. I was even the brand ambassador for my bet. So, I don’t think that comes in because art is what people need not necessarily your name. The influence that you can give the people is what they want not the name.” He said.
Mentioning a lot of names in the music industry saying that their names circulating is based on the genre of music the music they do is used to identify them.
“Because Obrafour means a murderer, Tic Tac we don’t even know the meaning, Abortion is something else, Captain Planet is even a cartoon which is not even advisable to use, Ninja man is not a ninja and Elephant man is not an elephant,” he added.
“They all represent something and how we do our music. The kind of music that you do will determine the kind of name you’ll use. The fact that you portray that name doesn’t mean that’s your true character.” He said.
