His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated the Electoral Commission (EC) for the just-ended voter’s Registration exercise.
The President described the exercise as a successful one considering the timed that we are in and what the world is facing at the moment.
The First Gentlemen of the land said that the registration exercise was very transparent and shows the Commission’s determination to ensure a credible register for the upcoming elections in December.
He made this statement when he was addressing the Nation, during his 15th address concerning new measures he has put in place for the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
He commended the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, and her lieutenants, like specific people who ensured that the registration was a success through ensuring the observance of health protocols.
“There were those who expressed various degrees of hysteria and negativity towards the exercise with some who saw heaven and earth to resist the compilation of the register at the peril of their lives, ending up registering,” he said.
“By the grace of God, the work of the Electoral Commission, and the effective measures put in place by the government, these prophesy of doom did not materialize.”
