The 15-year prison sentence of evangelist Nana Agradaa has been reduced to 1 year.
“The Amasaman High Court ruled that the original punishment was harsh and excessive”.
The court upheld her conviction but was more lenient, reducing the 15 years of hard labour initially imposed by the trial court to 1 year.
The revised sentence takes effect on the date of her conviction, July 3, 2025, meaning Nana Agradaa will serve a total of 12 months in prison.
The court held that while the offence for which she was convicted warranted punishment, the severity of the original sentence was disproportionate under the circumstances, justifying a downward adjustment.
