According to Dr. Paul Opoku-Mensah, Executive Director of the National Cathedral of Ghana Secretariat, the National Cathedral project has a viable economic model and is projected to generate $95 million in revenue in its first five years of operation.
A 350-seat biblical restaurant, a Conference center, a Café, shops, Theaters, and multipurpose rental spaces are among the approximately ten revenue sources that make up the business model.
The remaining features includes; its ground-breaking design, a Bible Museum of Africa, and Biblical Gardens of Africa, all of which would aid in the nation’s development and transform it into a significant center of African Christianity.
The Executive Secretary said in order to draw tourists from around the world and Africa, a sustainable economic model that would create income will be gradually adopted.
She emphasised that “its economic effect analysis has been submitted to Parliament.”
He revealed that after a full briefing with the select committee on Trade, Industry, and Tourism, additional information, such as accounting for all public funds paid and the work completed thus far, had also been submitted to Parliament.
At the National Cathedral of Ghana Bible Reading Marathon Thanksgiving Service and the commemoration of the cathedral’s foundation-laying on Monday, Dr. Opoku-Mensah made that statement.
People from all walks of life attended the two-day event, which ended on December 30, 2022, and the Holy Bible was read aloud for lengthy periods of time.
The Chief Justice, Commanders of Security Services, a representative of the Speaker of Parliament, and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo all read passages from the Bible from the Book of Revelations.
The project has seven floors; two basement levels, five above levels making it the tallest civic structure in Accra, the capital city of Ghana, at roughly 50 meters, exceeding ‘Job 600’ 45 meters long building.
The Cathedral will however, be the tallest building in Accra when it is completed, with a Bell Tower reaching approximately 60 meters.
