The General Secretary of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fiifi Kwetey, has stated the party stands fully behind North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa over the National Cathedral brouhaha.
Some party executives and lawmakers who accompanied Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to the court have pledged to support him after the first hearing on Tuesday.
“This is to indicate that the NDC as a party is fully behind our comrade. The party is not dithering at all. There is nothing the forces can do to discourage him. The cause he is fighting is a cause of truth and transparency, the party stands fully behind him”, NDC General Secretary, Fiifi Kwetey said.
Accra high court has ordered lawyers for the Secretary to the National Cathedral’s Board of Trustees, Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, famously known as Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, to properly serve North Tongu lawmaker, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on the contempt proceedings against the legislator.
The court noted in the proceedings that the MP had not been properly served regarding the contempt application as required by law.
The court has directed Rev. Kusi’s lawyers to file the necessary processes with the Speaker of Parliament after today’s hearing.
Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, one of the legal team members for Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, was of the view that the judge’s position indicates that the contempt application has been rejected.
Lawyers for the accuser filed a contempt application against the MP after he was caught on video kicking an interim injunction obtained in connection with a defamation suit filed against him.
Rev. Kusi Boateng is fighting various allegations including conflict of interest and use of multiple identities to secure contracts.
