As part of the Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, the minister of Lands and Natural Resources delivered a keynote address at the Faculty’s 40th-anniversary celebration, held under the theme, “40 Years of Training Natural Resources Managers: A New Age for a New Beginning.”
According to him, natural resources are so consequential to our survival, must be sustainably managed for the benefit of current and future generations and requires collective responsibility.
The minister forcefully submitted the quest to protect and sustainably manage our natural resources does not depend just on the President or his Ministers, but more importantly on traditional, local and political authorities at all levels, as well as residents of these communities.
The Government of President Akufo-Addo is fully committed to providing the needed leadership for the fight against illegal mining and the sustainable management of the natural resources of the country.
“We need the support and collaboration of all; traditional leaders, Regional, Metropolitan, Municipal and District authorities, commanders and other personnel of the security services, religious leaders, politicians, media personnel, Civil Society Organisations, natural resource managers, members of the academia, students, civil servants, public servants, citizens, community members, and all and sundry” he stated.
Hon. Abu Jinapor however, emphasised, “We must all paddle in one direction, and with God on our side, we can protect our environment and make our nation great and strong”.
