Mr. Charles Acheampong, spectrum manager at the National Communications Authority (NCA) has picked nomination form to contest the New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Primaries in the Lower West Akyem Constituency of the Eastern Regions.
Mr. Acheampong is the fifth person to join the race for the seat which is currently occupied by Honourable Eyiah Kyei Baffour who is yet to pick his forms.
Others who have picked nomination forms are the Chief Executive officer of Ghana Tourism Development Company, Kwadwo Odame Antwi, and Deputy Managing Director in charge of operations at STC Coaches Limited, Kwabena Sintim Aboagye, and former Chief Executive for Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) who is also a two-term MP for the Area, Gifty Klenam and a businessman.
In 2015 NPP primaries, five people contested the seat but Eyiah Kyei Baffour was the delegates choice and he won the Parliamentary seat in 2016 with 27,056 votes, representing 59.87%, while NDC’s candidate, Shirley NAANA OSEI AMPEM also obtained 18,011 39.86%.
The New Patriotic Party since the year 2000 has been winning the seat.
