The Eastern Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has criticized the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s upcoming campaign visit to the Eastern Region starting Monday April 29, questioning the party’s performance in the region having been in power for almost eight years.
The party has pointed out major discrepancies between the NPP’s reported achievements on the performance tracker and on-the-ground realities.
In a press release signed by the Eastern Regional Communications Officer of NDC, Kojo Danquah, the NDC accused the NPP’s Performance Tracker of errors, including listing projects in non-existent towns, falsely attributing community-driven initiatives to the government, and claiming projects were completed when they were either unfinished or non-existent.
“The NPP’s tracker erroneously lists projects in non-existent locales like Bunso in Abuakwa North, exposing gross negligence in data accuracy.Community-driven initiatives are falsely attributed as government endeavors, laying bare the NPP’s incapacity to discern genuine achievements.”yhe statement pointed out.
The NDC questioned the NPP’s flagbearer’s ability to provide a comprehensive list of actual projects executed in the Eastern Region.
“Can the NPP’s flagbearer offer a comprehensive dossier of actual projects executed by his party in the Eastern Region, or is their portfolio merely an amalgam of fallacies and distortions?” Danquah asked.
The party also asked how the NPP plans to rectify the discrepancies in its Performance Tracker and maintain transparency and accountability in its reporting. “Given the egregious disparities between listed projects and their tangible existence, what measures will the NPP implement to ensure transparency and rectitude, or do they prefer to cloak their shortcomings in deception?” Danquah questioned.
The NDC emphasized its own developmental achievements in the region, such as the construction of key infrastructure projects including the Abetifi Referral Hospital, Community Day SHS facilities, and water projects.
“the NDC’s tenure witnessed a paradigm shift in infrastructural development, marked by landmark achievements such as the establishment of the Abetifi Referral Hospital which has been left to rot, the University of Environmental and Sustainable Development, and pivotal water projects in Suhum, Akwatia, Wenchi, and Dwenase. Additionally, the construction of Community Day SHS facilities in Takorase and Maame Krobo,kwaobah-Nyanoa,Kwahu Fodoa, Mem-chemfre,Anum Apapam and Apersua along with extensive town road networks and chip compounds, symbolizes monumental progress observed in the Eastern Region”
“We in the Eastern Region are readily prepared to expose the lies [Vice President Bawumia] will be peddling in the course of his tour in the region,” Danquah stated.
The statement urged residents to critically evaluate the information presented by the NPP during its campaign tour and remain wary of the party’s claims.
