A member of the National Democratic Congress from Kumawu, Madam Akua Afriyie, was fired for saying she would back Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a candidate for the NPP flagbearer position.
Despite being a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress, she expressed her enthusiasm for the NPP presidential candidate.
She claims that immediately after the video of her endorsing Alan during the Kumawu by-election went viral, she was fired.
She had made it known to everyone that, although being a member of the NDC, she would gladly support Alan if the NPP put him up as their candidate for the 2024 elections. At that time, she said that Alan had a vision that might salvage our nation and inspire the thronging young.
The NDC took exception to her comments since she has subsequently become the talk of the town in political circles.
Akua Afriyie claims that after receiving a letter of dismissal, she is now a floating voter.
“I am currently not a member of the NDC or a member of the NPP but l am a strong supporter of Mr. Kyerematen”.
She has warned that she Akua will just skip the 2024 elections if the NPP denies Mr. Kyerematen the chance to head the party.
In the meanwhile, there was a large turnout at the constituency delegates durbars for the Kumawu, Afram Plains, and Effiduase Asokore constituencies, when delegates vowed to do all in their power to guarantee Alan wins the presidential primary.
