The Eastern Regional Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Sidi Bello, has explained the guidelines governing the party’s internal elections, urging prospective aspirants to ensure they meet all requirements before picking nomination forms.
According to him, the guidelines are designed to regulate the electoral process and ensure that only qualified party members participate in the various stages of the elections.
Speaking on Bryt Adekyee Mu Nsem, Alhaji Sidi Bello explained that prospective candidates are expected to verify their eligibility before obtaining nomination forms, particularly because monies paid for the forms are non-refundable.
He advised party members who have not fulfilled their tax obligations not to pick nomination forms until they have satisfied the necessary requirements.
Alhaji Sidi Bello further cautioned party members who are currently serving suspensions to carefully consider their status before attempting to contest in the elections.
He said a suspended member whose suspension period has not expired would not be eligible to contest until the suspension is lifted.
The Eastern Regional Director also disclosed that all those who submitted their nomination forms yesterday had met the required qualifications, indicating that their eligibility had been checked before the forms were submitted.
He stressed that adherence to the guidelines is essential to ensuring a smooth, transparent and orderly electoral process within the party.
Alhaji Sidi Bello therefore urged all prospective aspirants to familiarise themselves with the requirements and confirm their eligibility before taking steps to obtain nomination forms.
