Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a presidential candidate for the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has chosen his nomination paperwork.
On February 23, 2023, a team selected the nomination papers for the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana at the party headquarters in Accra so that he might run in the internal elections.
This comes after he announced his intention to run against former president John Mahama for the position of flagbearer.
“I am happy to announce that tomorrow I will pick forms at 9 am, to contest to be the next NDC Flagbearer by the Grace of the Almighty God. To all Comrades who have lost hope, I say to you today, that HOPE is HERE! The journey to rescue and reposition the NDC for VICTORY 2024 begins!”, he wrote on his official Facebook page.
The NDC declared that nominations for its presidential and parliamentary candidates in the general elections of 2024 were now open.
The three-day event launches the procedures for the party’s internal elections, which will determine a presidential and parliamentary candidate for the NDC on May 13, 2023, to run on the party’s ticket in the general election of 2024.
Candidates for parliament must obtain nomination forms from the NDC website and pay a charge of GH5000 via Mobile Money, while candidates for president must obtain nomination forms from the party’s office of the general secretary and pay a price of GH30,000 via banker’s draft.
Female candidates and those with physical limitations, however, would only be needed to pay 50% of the price.
The current exercise will last through Friday, February 24, 2023.
