The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman in the Abetifi Kwahu Constituency, Hon Samuel Asamoah has stated that he is excited the party is choosing the right candidates this year.
Hon. Samuel Asamoah said this during an interview with on Dadi FM, 101.1, with Abena Pokua Ahwenee.
His response came after he was being asked why the party still hasn’t gotten some valid candidates for some of the constituencies in the country as at now.
The Abetifi constituency in Kwahu is one of the constituencies that has been alleged to not have NDC Parliamentary candidate.
“If I tell you the number of prominent people who are interested in these positions you will be amazed, but this kind of decision requires thorough critical thinking to arrive at the best choice. Some constituencies are on standby because we are thinking about the welfare of the citizens and the Abetifi Constituency is one of them”, he said.
He added that he honestly doesn’t know where the information is from but it is certainly not true that a big party like the NDC will be facing problems with getting representatives for the various constituencies.
He also mentioned that until the electoral commission closes the gates for nominations, then no one has the right to jump to such a conclusion.
It has been alleged that the NDC is yet to have parliamentary candidates for some constituencies in Ghana.
People are wondering if the NDC is collapsing because it is 5 months more to the election and they still haven’t sorted out a lot of things.
The NDC is alleged to be having problems with getting parliamentary candidates for the various constituencies.
According to him, every party has its own strategies concerning the upcoming elections and this year the NDC wants to stay low with a lot of information. He debunked the information by saying that, there are a lot of prominent people vying for positions in the various constituencies.
He went on to say that the reason why they have not accepted some of these prominent people is that, they need to make sure they select the right people for the job because the task ahead is not an easy one.
In their quest to fight against corruption, the party would not want to select individuals who are only interested in spending the country’s money or use the money for their own gains.
“We don’t want to make the mistake of selecting people who are money centred and only care about their pockets. We will certainly present our candidates before the nomination date is due”, he said.
