The Third National Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Masawud Osman, has launched a scathing attack on the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) over what he describes as a disturbing attempt to cover up an alleged drug trafficking incident involving a mysterious aircraft that landed in Ghana.
Speaking on Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem, Alhaji Masawud stated that the NPP has formally petitioned the international diplomatic community to assist in verifying whether the said aircraft indeed transported illegal narcotics into the country.
“We the NPP have written to the international diplomatic community to help ascertain whether the landed plane came with cocaine or not,” he revealed. “We are blaming the NDC government because all security heads at the airport and across the country were appointed by them. Before any aircraft lands in Ghana, these appointed heads are fully aware of it.”
He emphasized that the NPP will not relent in holding the government accountable until transparent and thorough investigations are conducted.
Alhaji Masawud accused the NDC administration of obstructing efforts to uncover the truth, stating, “We’ve noticed the NDC doesn’t want the investigation to be conducted. If President Mahama is truly serious about protecting his legacy and the security of this country, he would have dismissed Felix Ofosu Kwakye by now, because Felix is a liar.”
He further disclosed that the NPP minority caucus is preparing to hold a press conference aimed at putting pressure on the government to act. “The press conference is meant to send a strong signal to President Mahama to investigate the allegations, whether they are true or not,” he added.
In a bold declaration, Alhaji Masawud warned that the opposition will not allow the NDC to damage the country’s reputation. “If they are clean on this alleged drug issue, then they should lead the investigation. I don’t understand why they are running away from it. We in the NPP will continue to speak out until the NDC and President Mahama are fully exposed.”
The NPP’s stance adds to mounting public and political scrutiny over the alleged drug-related aircraft, as calls for accountability and transparency continue to intensify.
