There was Chaos in Akatawia Roman Catholic registration center in the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency of the Eastern Region Saturday morning.
An attempt by some opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, party officials and some residents to question the legitimacy of people allegedly transported to the Community to register created confusion.
The ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, Constituency Executives and the NPP Member of Parliament for the Area Joseph Tetteh accompanied by some men leaped out from their vehicles to the center attack the NDC officials in a free for all fight
NDC Constituency Organizer James Tetteh was reportedly battered with a blade and a cutlass.
The Swift intervention by the local Police helped to restore calm.
The NDC Organizer has complained to the Asesewa Police Station.
The registration exercise in Upper Manya Constituency has been marred by violence in some registration centers.
The NDC has accused the NPP of mar handing some men intimidating and beating residents who resist them from registering strangers.
On Thursday for instance, there was confusion at Aketebor registration center after some men, believed to be supporters of the ruling NPP, invaded the center and attacked applicants for resisting the registration of non-residents at the center
The NDC Parliamentary Candidate Bismark Tetteh Nyarko said the NDC will be forced to retaliate should the Police fail to act.
There have been pockets of clashes between the NDC and NPP in many Constituencies over the registration of alleged non-residents.
Meanwhile the Opposition National Democratic Congress NDC, in Eastern Region has invoked curse against nonresidents smuggled to register in Constituencies they do not reside.
Some regional Executives having recently invoked curse in river Nkwakwamu in Nkawkaw, Afram Plains South Secretariat of the party has also invoked similar curse calling on the god to strike dead any stranger who registers in the Constituency.
According to the party executives, they have resorted to invoking curses as a result of the security agencies failed to stop busing of none residents to its stronghold Constituencies by ruling New Patriotic Party ostensibly to take the seats from them.
The Regional Communication Director of the Party Dallas Williams believes their actions are demand for natural justice instead of Police indolence.
However, the Eastern Regional Communication Director of the NPP David Prah has described as falsehood allegations by the NDC adding the exercise has been smooth.
