The Western North Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. George Ofori Danquah, has stated that the NDC will by Monday, April 3rd and 4th, start vetting the 17 parliamentary aspirants who filed their forms to contest the primaries in the eight(8) constituencies in the Western North Region.
Three persons, including the incumbent member of parliament filed their forms in Aowin Constituency, Dr. Joseph Yensu, a lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and incumbent member of parliament of parliament Mr.Oscar Ofori Larbi.
Mr. Emmanuel Adanse Bonah, Mr. Sam Jerome, regional communication officer, Mr. Frank Pedro Asare, former constituency youth organiser and Mr. Kofi Benteh Afful filed their forms to contest in the Wiawso constituency.
In Bibiani Ahwianso Bekwai Constituency, Mr.Stephen Kingsley Bennieh, Mr. Adjinah Kwame Obeng and Bright Asamoah Brefo filed their forms to contest while the incumbent member of parliament for Bia West Dr.Augustine Tawiah, Abdul Musah and Mustapha Tanko Amadu filed in the Bia West Constituency and would be vetted.
The incumbent member of parliament for Bia East, Mr. Richard Acheampong and Mr.Felix Nanor Tetteh filed to be vetted.
Three members of parliament Mr. Sampson Ahi, member of parliament for Bodi Constituency, Mr. Joseph Betino , MP for Suaman Constituency and Mr.Kwabena Mintah Akandoh , member of parliament for Juaboso constituency went to the polls unopposed and is set to be vetted.
Mr. George Ofori Danquah, the NDC secretary, in an interview with Lord Fm at Sefwi Bekwai, explained that by the close of nomination 18 picked their nomination forms, but by the close of filing process,17 parliamentary aspirants filed their forms and will meet all the aspirants on Monday, April 3rd at Sefwi Bodi, Western Inn Hotel, and will vett Bia East, Bia West, Aowin and Suaman and on 4th April, 2023 and will finish up with Bodi, Juaboso and Bibiani Ahwianso Bekwai Constituency respectively.
He, further assured on aspirants and their supporters that there will be no bias and favoritism but urged supporters to run campaign devoid of personal attacks and insults so that the party would be united after the primaries to wrestle power from the NPP in 2024.
He also assured that the party has collaborated with the Ghana Police Service to provide enough security for the vetting and would follow the party guidelines if the need calls for disqualification.
Meanwhile, Akontombra Constituency primaries has been put on hold which Mr. George Ofori Danquah stated the decision was in the interest of the party and formed part of the party’s decision to win back the seat.
