The opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, in Atiwa East Constituency of the Eastern Region is questioning the reason by the Electoral Commission to speed off with ballot boxes containing ballots cast after the special voting exercise on Tuesday.
The NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Atiwa East Constituency Dr. Robert Defia expressed serious reservations about how EC officials took away ballot boxes with speed to unknown places without allowing the political parties to follow them after the close of polls.
According to the Candidate, the EC sped off with the ballot boxes which they chased but got to the police station where the ballots will be kept 20 minutes before the EC arrived.
He said the NDC was denied the opportunity to inspect the seal to ensure it was intact raising suspicion that the ballot boxes may have been tampered with.
According to Dr. Robert Defia, he is not happy with the posture of the EC in the district which seems to portray that he is in bed with the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Constituency attempting to collude to manipulate the election.
The incumbent Member of Parliament for Atiwa East Abena Osei Asare who doubles as a deputy finance monster is being challenged by NDC’s Dr. Robert Defia.
