The defeated candidate in the National Youth Organizer position of the opposition National Democratic Congress,NDC, Brogya Genfi has hinted of possible legal action citing electoral irregularities in the just ended election.
In a statement issued Monday December 12,2022, Genfi stated that, “the processes leading to the 10th National Youth and Women’s Conference was fraught with deliberate manipulation of the delegates list to favour the incumbent. This was in violation of express decisions and orders of Court of competent jurisdiction and the directives of the NDC”.
He added “I sincerely think that the party must take concrete steps to ensure that our rules and regulations are respected and not skewed to the advantage of anybody.For the records, the election of National Youth Organizer of the NDC is far from over”.
Nonetheless, he thanked the youth for voting massively for him
“I would like to convey my profound gratitude to all Youth Delegates of the NDC who converged at the University of Cape Coast over the weekend for the 2022 National Youth conference of our beloved party.
You turned up in your numbers to support and indeed voted massively for me. I treasure your trust and confidence reposed in me.
I further wish to thank all other stakeholders of our party as well as the rank and file for your kind support in diverse ways and for believing in my cause. “Ayekoo” to all those who accepted my message of Leadership of Courage and voted for me, as well as those who did not.
“To my teeming supporters, admirers and the rank and file of the party who desired for a change in the youth leadership, I say thank you to you all”.
Dr. Hanna Louisa Bissiw and George Opare Addo were retained as the National Women’s Organiser and National Youth Organiser respectively of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the election held in Cape Coast December 10,2022.
Dr. Bissiw polled 433 votes to beat her closest contender, Margaret Ansei who obtained 362 votes of the total valid ballot cast during the NDC’s Women and Youth congress.
Abigail Akwabea Elorm Mensah and Felicia Dzifa Tegah who obtained 341 and 260 votes respectively were also elected as the Deputy Women’s Organisers of the Party.
George Opare Addo, popularly known as Pablo, polled 533 votes to once again defeat his fiercest contender Brogya Genfi who polled 508 votes.
Opare becomes the first National Youth Organizer of the NDC to win a second term bid.
Ten people contested for the Deputy Youth Organiser position but after the close of polls, Osman Abdulai Ayariga and Ruth Dela Sedoh obtained 373 and 313 votes respectively and are now the newly-elected deputy officers of the youth wing of the NDC
