Fifty -Nine (59) auctioneers including a Deputy National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, Chief Biney have graduated by the Ghana Association of Auctioneers (GAA) on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at the Ghana Shippers Authority office in Accra.
The Ghana Association of Auctioneers (GAA) is the only umbrella body for all practicing license auctioneers in Ghana and was regulated by the Auction Sales Act 1989, Act 230
The chairman for the Ghana Auctioneers Association, Mr. Calvis Nii Tetteh Okine said in a speech at the graduation ceremony that, auctioneers were previously stigmatized as “cheaters” and were least respected by the public, however, the auction job has now become attractive to the extent that, lawyers, accountants, and all other professional have joined.
He entreated the new auctioneers to work professionally according to the ethics of the Profession.
A Presidential Staffer Ekow Ewusi in his speech advised the new auctioneers to anchor their work on the wheels of integrity and desist from fraudulent acts.
In an interview with the media, NDC’s Deputy National youth organizer who Chief Biney said he decided to enroll in the school because there are a lot of institutions and agencies in Ghana which need the services of Auctioneers, but because of the few members, they are scarce in the system, therefore their graduation will add to the numbers
