North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has called on all National Democratic Congress
(NDC) members eyeing a presidential run in 2028 to prioritize supporting President-elect John
Dramani Mahama’s upcoming administration to ensure its success.
Speaking in Accra on December 9, Mr. Ablakwa cautioned that the NDC risks failure in future elections if Mahama’s government does not deliver on its promises.
“NDC members must understand that if President Mahama doesn’t succeed, their ambitions for 2028 and beyond will remain unattainable. Personal aspirations must take a back seat as we work collectively to fulfill our manifesto commitments and address the needs of Ghanaians.”
He urged the party to remain focus in supporting the Mahama-Jane Opoku Agyemang presidency with
dedication and integrity, adding, “Our priority must be ensuring this administration achieves its
goals through competence and hard work.”
In a related development, President-elect John Mahama criticized the outgoing Akufo-Addo
administration for leaving Ghana in a dire economic state, warning that his government faces
significant challenges ahead.
Mahama assured Ghanaians that his administration would pursue governance reforms despite the difficult circumstances.
“The journey will not be easy, but we must not lose sight of the people of Ghana,” he stated.
