Goaso, Ahafo Region – 28th May 2025: The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Sulemana Yusif, has officially inaugurated the newly constituted Ahafo Regional Lands Commission Board in a ceremony at the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council.
The 13-member board, sworn into office on Wednesday, will spearhead land administration reforms in the region.
In his address, Hon. Sulemana acknowledged the steadfast support of traditional leaders and residents in advancing the government’s land administration agenda.
“This inauguration marks our continued commitment to bringing efficient land governance closer to all citizens,” he stated.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the board’s establishment fulfills constitutional mandates under Article 258 of the 1992 Constitution and the Lands Commission Act.
He charged members to thoroughly acquaint themselves with relevant land legislation to ensure effective service delivery.
Hon. Sulemana highlighted the critical role of decentralized land administration in national development, particularly in realizing the government’s 24-hour economy vision through:
- Secure land tenure systems
- Efficient transaction processing
- Strategic land use planning
Ahafo Regional Minister Hon. Mrs. Charity Gardiner expressed confidence in the board’s capacity to deliver, urging members to maintain exemplary standards of professionalism. “Your appointment represents both an honor and a solemn duty to serve the people of Ahafo with integrity,” she remarked.
The newly elected Board Chairman, Hon. Opoku Atuahene, accepted the mandate on behalf of members, recognizing land’s pivotal role in national development.
“As custodians of this vital resource, we commit to fostering sustainable land management practices that support agriculture, housing, industry, and environmental conservation,” he affirmed.
This inauguration reinforces the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to enhance land governance structures across all regions, ensuring equitable access and efficient administration of Ghana’s land resources.
