President Nana Akufo-Addo has revealed that Ghana will continue to record new cases of Pandemic COVID-19 particularly with the policy of aggressive tracing and testing.
But he has assured that the Government has put in place the appropriate measures to isolate and treat them.
Delivering 7th speech on the Pandemic COVID-19, Nana Akufo-Addo said Should there be an unexpected outburst in infections within a community, Government have put the health workers and the security services, including the Police Service and the Armed Forces, on standby, to co-ordinate a rapid response of human and logistical resources, if necessary, to the cordon, impose a curfew, trace, test, and treat infected persons in the affected community.
He said the focus of the Government’s policy and action will be based on the implementation of the “3Ts”, i.e. tracing, testing and treating. In any event, stay at home, unless it is essential.
Ghana has recorded 1,042 positive coronavirus cases, representing 1.5% of some 68,591 samples tested, with 99 persons recovering after contracting the disease.
President Akufo-Addo announced the numbers in his latest COVID-19 update Sunday night, during which he lifted the three-week-old partial lockdown imposed on Accra and Kumasi to help contain the spread of the virus effective 1:00am on Monday. April 20.
He said nine persons with underlying ailments, have died from the disease.
