The New Juaben North Municipality in the Eastern region was adjudged 29th among the 260 MMDAs across the country last year following a successful implementation of a contract signed between the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and the Coordinating Director.
MMDCEs in the country sign a performance contract with the various Coordinating Directors to set up targets for the Assemblies as far as development is concerned.
New Juaben North MCE, Madam Comfort Asante, made this known at the Assembly meeting held at its new Ultra-modern office complex on the Akwadum road on Monday.
Speaking to the media, the MCE emphasised on areas raised in her address, that is; finance, environmental health and sanitation, security, agriculture, education, media engagement and many other sectors.
Madam Comfort Asante, however, urged the people in the municipality as well as the Assembly staff to work hard and support President Akufo-Addo who is in a rush to ensure the transformation of the country.
On the provisional release of statistics of the Population and Housing Census, the MCE revealed the municipality has a population of over 81,000 as against a little over 58,000 recorded in 2010, indicating an increase in the number of people and properties within the municipality.
