A 21st May 2020 sitrep by the Eastern Regional Health Directorate listed that New Juaben South has recorded two(2) confirmed cases.
But the MCE explains that “technically, Koforidua has recorded one case. The other case is in New Juaben North that is Effiduase and Asokore thereabout. The third person is someone who stays in Koforidua but works in Atua in Somanya”
According to the MCE, efforts are underway to keep the disease at bay in the municipality.
“We worked so hard together with the Health Director, the Police Commander and other stakeholders with the aim that we do not record any positive case here. However, the beginning of last week Koforidua recorded a case. The person has already been isolated and contact tracing is underway and we are going to make sure we do that aggressively. I, on behalf of President Akufo Addo, will provide all the needed support to the team to work hard to contain the disease. We will make sure the virus does not spread in the Municipality”
