The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the New Juaben North Municipality in the Eastern Region, Hon. Samuel Adongo, has toured a number of basic schools in the municipality as part of activities marking the first day of the new academic year.
The tour, undertaken in collaboration with the New Juaben North Municipal Education Directorate, was aimed at welcoming pupils back to school, encouraging them to take their education seriously and creating a positive environment for effective learning.
The MCE visited several schools across the municipality, where he interacted with pupils, teachers and school authorities and observed the conditions under which teaching and learning were taking place.
Speaking to Bryt TV after the tour, Hon. Samuel Adongo said the initiative was intended to strengthen the commitment of pupils towards education and encourage them to see schooling as an important pathway to achieving their future aspirations.
He stressed the importance of education in shaping the lives of young people, describing it as a window to success and an essential foundation for the development of the municipality and the country as a whole.
According to him, providing pupils with the necessary support and motivation at the basic level would help them develop a strong interest in learning and prepare them for future opportunities.
The Deputy Director of Finance and Administration at the New Juaben North Municipal Education Directorate, Rev. Lawrence Gyimah, also explained that the visit was aimed at motivating pupils and making education more attractive to them.
He said encouraging children from an early stage was important in helping them develop a positive attitude towards school and learning.
As part of the tour, the delegation visited Akwadum Islamic Basic School, Akwadum Methodist Basic School, Akwadum Roman Basic School, Suhyen-Mpeam M/A School, Asikasu Presby School, Suhyen SDA School, Effiduase Roman School, Effiduase Presby School, Effiduase Methodist School, Jumapo St. Stephen’s Anglican School, Akwadum M/A Basic School A, and other schools within the municipality.
The schools also received support in the form of pencils, uniforms, tables and chairs, snacks and other learning materials.
The items were to support teaching and learning while providing pupils with some of the basic resources needed to enhance their educational experience.
The initiative forms part of efforts to encourage school attendance, motivate pupils and support basic education within the New Juaben North Municipality.
School authorities and teachers expressed appreciation for the gesture and encouraged the pupils to make good use of the learning materials and remain committed to their studies.
