There is a call for a holistic approach in dealing with challenges of safe and healthy menstruation among women, especially young girls across the country.
The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben North, Samuel Adongo, was of the view it is time for all stakeholders to come on board in ensuring young girls does not become victims of menstruation.

Speaking at this year’s Menstrual Hygiene Day at Effiduase in Wednesday, the MCE expressed worry how some young girls of school going age sometimes forfeit classes due to menstruation, as a result of inability to get the necessary materials to take care of themselves during that time of the month.
Hon Samuel Adongo was, however, worried at the poor state of most washrooms of school within the municipality and assured students of his commitment to ensure such facilities are upgraded to help promote good personal hygiene.
“I have visited most public schools in the municipality and I must confess almost all of their washrooms are in deplorable states. How can these young girls have access to change themselves whenever the need arises? I am going to work towards that to ensure our schools have well befiting washrooms but I will appeal to cooperate bodies and philanthropists to support us carry out that mandate” the MCE stated.

Other speakers at the event encouraged young girls not to look down upon themselves because of menstruation but rather see themselves as precious creatures of God.
They also educated the young girls the need to take their personal hygiene seriously, especially during their menstruation periods in order not to have any infections.
The Member of Parliament for the area, Nana Osei Agyei on his part through the former MCE Comfort Asante donated 20 boxes of sanitary pads which is about 500 pieces to be distributed to young girls to cushion them during their natural flow.

He retreated his continuous support to the development of education in the area and also tasked students to take their lessons serious.
